The artichoke is elegant and delicious and has been eaten as a vegetable since Roman times, so has long been known for its nutritional value.
Extracts of the leaves and roots were once used to treat arteriosclerosis, jaundice and post-operative anaemia. Artichokes provide a number of vitamins and minerals; they can also stimulate bile evacuation and act as a diuretic. In some cultures the artichoke is considered to be an aphrodisiac.
A study in Germany in 1980 revealed that Artichoke substantially lowered volunteer's blood fats and cholesterol.
Artichokes are traditionally used as a remedy to help the liver, the gallbladder, and digestion.
Other benefits of the Artichoke are it can reduce fluid retention, and may help steady blood sugar levels.

Bee pollen has been used as medicine around the world for thousands of years.Nutritionally,it is so perfectly balanced that, in itself, it represents a complete survival food.
Bee pollen has many medicinal uses including anti-ageing and longevity properties.

It can also relieve fatigue, improve appetite, increase sexual potency and fertility, alleviate painful menstruation, reduce the hot flushes of menopause for women and alleviate enlarged prostate in men.
Bee pollen is available in larger health food stores.

Hello, you can eat your christmas meal and be health conscious at the same time. Here is how

Have lots of drinking water available at the table, and drink as much of it as you can before your meal, this will stop you from over-eating, and flush those toxins out of your system.

Fill up on veg, as much as you can, that way you will be eating healthy, and wont want as much of the fatty foods.

Choose turkey rather than duck, duck is high in fat.

Sprinkle a little fennel, and rosemary over your food, they can aid digestion, and add more flavor to your meal.

Anyhow, enjoy your meal, and have a great christmas!

I became interested in alternative health, after reading about the benefits of vitamin c. After that i tried vitamin c for myself.

here is my story

the following event, started my interest, in vitamins and herbs. i am married with two teen-aged boys. When the boys where aged about 3 or 4 they where always having endless colds, and viruses, as they do at that age. on one occasion. the younger boy had a high temperature, and had been vomiting, i had rang the doctor, but was unable to get an appointment. i was very worried, as was my wife. i had read that vitamin c if taken in higher doses, can help the immune system, and i had bought some high dose vitamin c for myself 1000mg tablets. i decided to give my poor sick boy the 1000mg tablet, i was a little worried about giving such a high dose, but took a chance.

to my amazement, within half an hour, this little boy was up and running around as if nothing had happened. his temperature had come down, and he seemed quite well. after that i gave the vitamin c every time they where not well, and time and time again, the vitamin c did the trick. now weather i was right to give it is another matter, and also i thought, perhaps i am wrong to stop them from getting viruses that they may get worse latter on in life, i dont know!!. the vitamin c did not work on 100% of occasions, once he got chicken pox, it didnt work then, although it did lessen the symptoms, i think.

i would be interested to know what other members think about this

regards mike
